Painting (childhood drawings)

My interest in art began about the age of nine and was generally concurrent with my burgeoning interest in sports. I enjoyed the New York Daily News sports cartoons of Bill Gallo and Bruce Stark, and soon began copying them in pencil, albeit crudely (as can be seen in the below examples). As I continued drawing, I began choosing other subject matter to copy, mainly from magazines, books, and advertisements. I now keep these drawings in an expandable wallet and still enjoy hauling them out for a look every now and then, if for no other reason than to remind myself of how exhilarated I was while making these little drawings, as roughhewn as most of them may be.
